Government Approves ₹9,585 Crore Vehicle Replacement Scheme for Delhi-NCR
The Government of India has approved a ₹9,585 crore scheme aimed at replacing old and polluting trucks and buses operating in the Delhi-NCR region. The initiative is expected to accelerate the adoption of cleaner transportation technologies while significantly improving air quality across the National Capital Region.
The scheme targets approximately 2.07 lakh commercial vehicles, including around 1.91 lakh trucks and more than 16,000 buses. Vehicle owners will be encouraged to replace older BS-IV and earlier-generation vehicles with cleaner alternatives such as BS-VI, electric, and other advanced low-emission vehicles.
